Common HHA questions
What types of tasks can an HHA help with?
Our HHAs assist with daily activities that keep clients comfortable, safe, and well at home. This includes personal care (like bathing, grooming, and dressing), light housekeeping, meal preparation, and running errands. They also provide companionship and offer medication reminders to support your loved one’s health.
Do you offer short-term care for transitions home from rehab or hospital?
Yes, we do. Avondale can provide short-term home health aide (HHA) support designed to ease the transition from rehab or hospital back to the comfort of home. Our certified caregivers assist with daily tasks, mobility, and essential health monitoring, helping you or your loved one recover safely and comfortably.
How are HHAs different from CDPAP caregivers?
HHAs are certified home health aides who are trained to assist with daily activities like bathing, grooming, and light housekeeping. CDPAP caregivers, on the other hand, can be someone you know, such as a friend or family member, and they may provide more specialized care if needed. Your choice depends on what’s best for your loved one’s comfort and well-being.
Can I change my HHA if we’re not a good fit?
Absolutely. Your satisfaction with your care is important to us. If you’re ever unhappy with your aide, simply contact your dedicated coordinator at Avondale, and we’ll work to find the right match for you or your loved one.
Can I adjust the number of care hours I receive?
Care hours are determined based on your needs and are typically covered by Medicaid. If your situation changes or you think you need additional hours, reach out to us, and we’ll help you explore options to maximize your care.
Can I receive HHA care if I don’t have Medicaid?
Yes! If you’re not eligible for Medicaid, Avondale offers private pay options for home care. Contact us to learn more, and we’ll help you find a solution that works for you.
How quickly can I begin receiving HHA services?
We understand that starting care quickly can be essential. Once your eligibility and care needs are assessed, we can often begin services within days. Our team will guide you through each step to ensure a smooth and prompt start.
What happens if my needs change?
Your care plan should grow with you. At Avondale, we’ll periodically reassess your needs and adjust your care plan to ensure you receive the right level of support. Just reach out to your coordinator anytime for updates or adjustments.
